It is due for an important update.
The nissan Patrol is close to a decade of service, without any significant redesigns since 2010. The large SUV received a mid-cycle refresh in 2014. However, the full-cycle redesign is yet to take place. The Armada was updated by Nissan for the 2017 model year. They share the F-Alpha platform with the InfinitiQX80, bringing these two platforms closer in design. Kolesa.ru saw the Patrol’s age and decided to create their own new Patrol using a sweet rendering.
The Patrol rendering isn’t much different than the current model at first glance. The rendering retains the boxy look – you only have so many ways to slice large SUVs. The greenhouse is identical between them. There are however differences. The new front end transforms the existing Patrol’s grille to a larger, more modern design. Big grilles are very much in fashion right now, ahem BMW. The rendering may have made it appear more upright. All of the front fascia, including the headlights, is new
The rear is the most important update. This rendering gives the Patrol a contemporary-looking rear-end that is similar to other SUVs. The large, wide taillights spill over onto the hatch. The taillights are also connected to a chrome trim which emphasizes their width. Redesigns are also made to the lower rear fascia. The other design changes can be seen in the rear three-quarter angle. The rear’s design is slightly modified by a slight flare to the fenders. Also, a new spoiler has been added. The fender port, which has been a design feature on the SUV for many years, is missing.
It is not known when Nissan will update the Patrol. Rumours suggested that the update would be made around the 2018 model year or 2019. However, this has not happened. If Nissan makes that decision, the new Patrol will borrow the 2018 Infiniti QX80.
