While wooden art is often limited to toys and simple figures, it doesn’t necessarily mean that this material is not possible. Wood can be transformed into a masterpiece if it is handled well. It’s a mechanical piece art.
Although we’ve seen many wooden cars, including one with a functioning suspension , this is the first time that such a thing has been seen. This is a model that includes an engine, brakes and steering.
The video describes that the car took 300 hours to design and build. There are currently no production plans, but the wood master said that he might make some if there is enough demand. A production wooden car would be amazing!
This model has a 0.169-liter V8-powered engine, mated with a three-speed gearbox. It also features an open differential. The front engine is positioned in a mid-engine layout with the cross-plane V8 behind the front axle. We would love to see this engine dynoed.
However, that’s only a small part of the story. The video shows that the wooden car has an active hydraulic brake system and rear disc brakes. The front wheels are controlled by a rack-and-pinion steering system, and the rear wheels are controlled by a hydraulic dual piston clutch.
