2022 Jeep Compass – Snazzy Interior and Safety Tech In Chicago

A few exterior changes can be replaced by a more sophisticated interior with many standard safety features.

The new-for-2022 Jeep Compass may look familiar. The updated Jeep compact SUV was unveiled in China’s Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2020. The new Compass will be displaying its capabilities at the Chicago Auto Show 2021. We have only seen a few images of the interior and exterior.

There won’t be many exterior differences between the Compass current and the new Compass. This minor facelift focuses primarily on the rear and front fascias. The new LED headlights will be displayed upfront. Taillights will receive a minor redesign as well as LED options for certain trim levels. Under the hood you’ll find a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. It produces 177 horsepower (132 Kilowatts) as well as 172 poundfeet (223 Newton-meters). This power can still be transmitted through a six-speed automatic on two-wheel-drive models or a nine speed automatic for four-wheel-drive models.

It’s the big upgrade for 2022, and it is indeed significant. The greenhouse has a new look, from the dash to seats. It features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The dash has an 8.4-inch touchscreen and an optional 10.1 touchscreen. These will manage all your infotainment needs. The new multifunction steering wheel has hands-on controls, heated/ventilated rear seats on certain models are now available, and Jeep is proud of the sleek cup holders. This is definitely a more luxurious experience than the Compass.

This experience comes with an increase in technology, most notably driver-assist systems and safety systems. Jeep claims that the 2022 Compass features more safety and security features than any other vehicle of its class. The entire Compass range includes collision warning with active braking, pedestrian/cycle detection and active lane management. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert are also standard. Jeep also offers Highway Assist, a semi-autonomous assistance system that allows hand-on-wheel or eyes-on road automated driving.

The 2022 Compass trim levels include the Sport, Latitude and Limited versions, as well as Trailhawk. However, a new Latitude Lux adds luxury to the middle of the range. Uconnect 5, the latest Uconnect system, brings a host of new features to the Compass. Not least Alexa connectivity and updates over-the-air to keep things moving. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Five Profiles can be set up to store everything, from music preferences to climate controls. Jeep will not release pricing information at this time, but we should know by fall when the 2022 models go on sales.
