It does not have huge kidney grilles.
Recent sightings of the next-gen BMW 5 Series are increasing. This one could be the electric test vehicle that will go under the i5 name, as the decals on the “Electric Test Vehicle” and the absence of visible exhaust suggest this. All 5 Series development cars we see share the same styling, regardless of their powertrain. The most notable features are the sloping nose and small kidney grilles, which is a departure from other BMWs. The vehicle’s headlights are quite narrow at the corners. The flowing roofline leads to a slim, sleek tail. The 5 Series does not appear to be using the wide-width taillights, which are becoming a popular trend in automotive styling. Instead, the rear is adorned with small clusters of lights on either side.
Although we don’t have any spy shots yet of the interior, there are reasons to expect major changes. BMW plans to bring the next generation iDrive system to the iX and other models. Photos show the future 7 Series receiving a vast array of screens. The 5 Series must also be high-tech to keep up with the rest of the segment. A variety of powertrains will be offered with the new 5 Series. As these photos demonstrate, an electric vehicle is on the horizon. The plug-in hybrid was also shown in earlier photos. The option sheet should also include pure gas- and diesel-fueled mills. Europe is pushing for new cars to have zero emissions by 2035. This means electrification will be a key focus of the future strategy. For the debut of the new 5 Series, the best estimate is a unveiling in 2022’s second half.
