Supercar with a removable roof is the Ferrari 296 GTB in Spy Shots

Say hello to Ferrari 296 GTS spider.

It has been just over a month since Ferrari introduced its 296 GTB. New spy photos show that the company is currently working to develop an open-air version. As the camouflage cladding clearly shows, the Ferrari’s roof can be removed.

Ferrari disguised the majority of the car, even though it is unlikely that the styling will change. This is true even for the underside of the sheet metal. The plug-in hybrid powertrain for the 296 GTS will be the same as that used in the fixed-roof 262 GTB. The GTB featured a 3.0-liter twin turbocharged V6 and an electric motor . The combined output of the car is 818 horsepower (610 Kilowatts) and 546 pounds-feet (740 Newton meters) of torque. The car can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds. The spider version should be able to achieve similar, but slightly slower, speeds.

Although the removable roof might add weight to the supercar it won’t cause any noticeable changes in the driver’s chair. Other than the addition of the removable roofing and the hardware, the GTS will not see any changes to the cabin. It will be welcoming its passengers with a driver-focused dashboard and a slim centre console.
