The LC300 makes it easy to wade through deep water and jump from a ramp.
Toyota has created a YouTube channel for all things Land Cruiser300 Series. Unfortunately, it is only available in Japanese. However, the content is well worth sharing because we see the SUV’s performance in various off-road tests. The new platform makes the LC more agile off the beaten track, and the added tech enhances an already capable off-roader.
Although jumping off a ramp or playing in the sand may not be conclusive of the Land Cruisers’ capabilities, a third video shows it tackling difficult terrain. Gazoo Racing’s Gazoo Racing-badged version is the best if you are looking for the most off-road toys. It’s the only vehicle to have Toyota’s electronically controlled, kinetic dynamic suspension stabilization system (E-KDSS). You also get front and rear electronic differential locks, and an upgraded adaptive varission.
The new Land Cruiser makes it easy to navigate deep water and climb rocks. It’s refreshing seeing a ladder-frame vehicle at work amongst a sea of unibody SUVs. The Mercedes G-Class is still as competent and refined as ever, but Toyota’s LC packs a lot of luxury, refinement and technology without changing the formula that made it so popular.
The new Land Cruiser has lost 441 pounds (200 kg) in weight over its predecessor, while also enjoying a 20% increase in frame rigidity. Six driving modes are available: Auto, Dirty, Sand, Rock and Mud. The Multi-Terrain Monitor has four cameras that show everything around the vehicle.
Toyota will launch the LC300 and update the LC70 in 2022 to add safety features. They also restart production of parts for the LC40 including engines, drivelines, exhausts, and drivelines. The luxury division Lexus will likely finish the LX, which is modeled after the Land Cruiser. It should break cover by the middle of 2022.
The LC300 is already off to a strong start, as Toyota cannot keep up with demand from early adopters. According to Japanese reports, there is a 12-month waitinglist for the SUV even though it has not yet been launched in all markets. It is not coming to America, and it will be rare in Europe.
