VW Golf GTI with Rear-Wheel Drive Donuts Until It Cracks Down

The perfect GTI is finally here.

You can build the rear-wheel-drive Golf GTI you want using only OEM VW parts. Deutsche Auto Parts did exactly that, and their latest video shows it was a huge success. The VW Golf GTI is a popular performance car, but unfortunately, VW has never produced a rear-wheel drive version. A rear-drive conversion is required to get the best Golf GTI drifts.

We must acknowledge all the amazing high-performance all wheel-drive Golfs like R32 and R32. However, these front-wheel drive biased all-wheel drives systems can’t duplicate the pure performance of a rear-wheel driven setup. The all-wheel-drive vehicles provide a huge source of parts for Deutsche Auto Parts, who used a Golf R32 rear differential as a part of their drivetrain conversion.

This build uses the Golf GTI as a platform. It is heavily modified and has a built engine that produces almost 500 horsepower (372 Kilowatts). Although horsepower is great, it can cause damage to drivetrain components and make rear-wheel-drive conversions more challenging. This build uses OEM VW components that were not designed to handle such power. Failure is expected, but it remains a mystery as to the extent and frequency of failure.

The team ran into some problems after doing donuts for 20 seconds. It was amazing during the 20 seconds it worked. Evidently, the engine’s power was too strong for the Audi TT transmission case. The team destroyed the internals of the car and rendered it useless.

The good news is that you can get spare parts from VW parts suppliers. This allowed the team to retry with amazing results. To celebrate, the rear-wheel-drive GTI performed impressive donuts and stayed together.
