$325K Rolls-Royce Cullinan Recalled for Dim Reason

We didn’t expect that.

Although the Cullinan is a costly car, at least 300-grand, it’s not exempt from recalls. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a recall for the RollsRoyce SUV because of a lighting problem.

According to the NHTSA document approximately 403 units may not be compliant with Section 7.3.13.13.1 and Table 1X of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. This section focuses on lamps, reflective devices and related equipment.

NHTSA continues to point out that not all taillights, particularly the brake lamps, were made according to specification. Due to decreased visibility, the lamps might not be bright enough. This could lead to accidents.

According to the document, the defects were caused by variations in the production process of the supplier. Some vehicles may have one, two, or all of the following problems:

Rolls-Royce, BMW of North America, LLC has not been notified of any injuries or accidents related to this issue.

Rolls-Royce dealers were already notified about the recall. Owners will be notified via first class mail with instructions. Rolls-Royce Cars dealers will provide the necessary assistance to fix the brake lights, as with all recalls. Rolls-Royce New Vehicle Limited Warranty will cover the service if the defect occurs before the recall.

On October 14, 2019, owner notification will start to roll out. We recommend that you immediately contact your certified dealer if you are among the 403 Rolls-Royce Cullinan owners.
