Ford Mustang EcoBoost promises an intoxicating combination of performance and fuel economy, but it seems to use regular fuel (87-octane fuel). This can throw a wrench in the situation.
The Ford Mustang EcoBoost promises an intoxicating combination of performance and fuel economy, but regular fuel (87octane), can cause problems.
According to Mustang6G training materials, the Mustang EcoBoost produces only 275 bhp (205 kW) and 300lb-ft (406Nm) of torque when it runs on regular unleaded. This contrasts with the 310 horsepower (231 kW), and 320 lbft (433Nm) of torque produced when the Mustang EcoBoost runs on premium unleaded (93 Octane).
The Mustang is not the only model affected by the type and amount of petrol used, but it’s an interesting reminder of how significant the performance differences can be.
