Dealerships should soon be able to purchase the Maverick.
Officially, the Ford Maverick goes on sale at dealers in the autumn. It looks like Ford will be available in the fall. A quick glance at the calendar shows that it’s only a few weeks away. Ford’s Hermosillo assembly plant is currently producing Mavericks. The factory celebrated the occasion with a small celebration.
Curiously, news and photos came to us and not directly from Ford. Images were shared in forums at Maverick Truck Club by Motor1.com. They show a Velocity blue Maverick emerging from behind a curtain to reveal a shower full of confetti. This is the first pickup truck to go on the production line, and it’s not a hybrid model with 40 mpg, according to the forum post. This is the top-of the-line Lariat with the 2.0 liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. The black wheels and FX4 On-Road sticker on the bed indicate that it also has all-wheel drive.
Ford’s online Maverick configurator gives an MSRP of $31,735 for the truck with all known equipment. This truck is equipped with sensors and cameras for Ford’s Co-Pilot360 technology, which is part of the optional $3340 Lariat Luxury package. This would place the Maverick in the $35,000 price range, which is well above the $19.995 base price Ford advertised at the Maverick debut. It’s not impossible to get a Maverick base model, but it’s highly likely that most buyers will opt for a mid-grade Maverick.
Ford has not made any official announcements about Maverick production. However, Jim Farley, Ford CEO, announced 100,000 reservations had been received for the compact truck as of August 23. Most of the reservations were from Texas, California, Florida and, more specifically, Los Angeles. Ford’s goal is to attract non-traditional truck buyers through the Maverick. This will allow Ford to capture sales that would otherwise go to hatchbacks, compact cars, or used vehicles.
It will be interesting to see if any of these reservations turn into actual sales once production is underway.
