UPDATE: The original Electrek report regarding a delayed launch of the Ioniq 5 wasn’t correct. Motor1.com was informed by Hyundai about the situation. “As per plan, IONIQ 5, will still arrive at dealers by the end-of the year or in the Fall. The timing is unchanged. According to Hyundai spokesperson Brandon Ramirez, the Ioniq 5 will be available in winter.

The Hyundai Infinitiq 5 is still available in the United States for purchase this fall. Motor1.com reached Hyundai to get more information on the cause of the change. Refer to the statement above.IEVs had already had the opportunity to take a closer look at Ioniq 5. The battery pack in the US model has a capacity of 77.4 Kilowatt-hours. Customers have the option of either a single motor that powers the rear wheels and produces 225 horsepower (168kilowatts), or a dual-motor, all wheel-drive system producing 320 horsepower (239 kW).

Hyundai has a target range of 300 miles (483 km) for the rear-drive model. All-wheel drive SE and SEL can travel an estimated 269 mi (433 km), while all-wheel drive Limited can travel 244 mi (393 km). The Ioniq 5 can charge at up 220 kilowatts. The Ioniq 5 can charge between 20 and 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

The Ioniq 5 comes in SE, Limited, and SEL trims. Prices are not yet available for any of these trim levels. Six exterior colors are available: Phantom Black (Cyber Gray), Atlas White, Digital Teal and Lucid Blue (Matte Gray). There are three options for interior: Obsidian black, Dark Pebble Gray/Dove Gray and Dark Teal/Dove Gray.

Hyundai is currently working on a performance-focused N version of the Ioniq 5. Although the powertrain changes are not yet known, the Kia EV6 is available with up 576 hp (430 kW) so there is scope for Hyundai to increase the model’s output. Spy shots reveal the Ioniq 5 N equipped with upgraded brakes, and wheels with narrow spokes. Upgrades to suspension are also expected.

The US is not yet certain when the Ioniq N will be available for purchase. Performance models may be more difficult to find because of the delay in the standard model.
