Before painting the actual car, the German artist made 10 designs.
Hanna Schoenwald, a German artist, transformed her Porsche 911 Carrera 2 964-generation Porsche 911 Carrera 2 in to a work of art. Porsche’s official Instagram account loved her creation so much, that it posted about it.
Schoenwald can use the Porsche’s white body as a canvas to create her designs. The video below shows how simple her process is. Blue guides are placed on the body. She then paints the pattern using one hand and a brush the other. Schoenwald explains that her design is inspired by “natural reflections” in paint on her page.
Schoenwald did more than just stand up to her 911, and paint. First, she sketched her ideas with pen and paper. She also created ten design studies with fiberglass scale models, which she mounted onto canvases.
Her design adds a mixture of straight lines and flowing curves to the 911’s exterior. Some of the most distinctive features are found on the front. A diagonal element is added to the hood that follows the contour of the bumper at its nose. The raised sections that lead to the headlights are also oval-shaped. Even the side mirrors have little flourishes.
The inspiration to follow the reflections of the paint is visible along the sides. Between the fenders, a trapezoidal element is added. The roofline is traced by her line before the curve is incorporated into the rear flare.
We don’t get a good look at the rear deck from the images and video. Although there are some minor additions, the rear deck is not as well-known as the front.
From 1989 to 1994, the 911’s 964 generation was available. The all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 was the first 911 to be launched. The rear-drive Carrera 2 followed a year later, in 1990. There were three body types: the Targa, coupe, and convertible.
Porsche has collaborated with artists to make art cars from its products. Shun Sudo recently covered a Taycan in stylized images of flowers. To showcase the brand’s vibrant design, the brand took it on a trip to Japan.
