Volvo XC90 Facelift Revealed With KERS for Better Fuel Efficiency

Here’s an easy challenge: Can you spot design changes made to the current version?

Volvo has introduced new models to its range, but Volvo now wants to refresh older models. The XC90 large SUV, which is the Swedish manufacturer’s flagship vehicle, has been updated with photos and information.

The luxury sport utility vehicle has been sold 320,000 times since its inception. A minor visual overhaul includes a new radiator grille, which is compatible with the latest offerings of the brand, and new wheels options and exterior colors.

Volvo claims that the XC90’s interior design is unchanged and has no need to be improved. There are a variety of new seating configurations that allow the vehicle to be ordered in five, six, or seven-seat layouts. You can fold the second and third rows of seats in different ways, so that the XC90 can be used with any number of seats.

The most significant improvement to the current version is the addition a new kinetic-energy recovery braking system. Volvo claims that this can reduce fuel consumption by up to 15% in real-world driving. The system, which is branded with a “new integrated electrified powertrain,” is connected to the existing internal combustion engines of the SUV.

The company’s high-riding, top-of the-line vehicle benefits from a variety of assistance systems, which were introduced in the S90/V90 and S60/V60 models between 2015 and 2016. These systems include Cross Traffic Alert, City Safety with Autobrake and Oncoming Lane Mitigation. These technologies, when combined with the safety cage of the XC90, should make this large SUV “one the most safest on the road.”

The model will finally get an Android Auto compatibility and integrated Spotify music streaming.

The 2020 XC90 production will start in May, with orders already open worldwide.
