This truck could also be used as the base for the next-generation Volkswagen Amarok pickup
Two photos leaked from an Australian website Whichcar Supposedly, the first glimpse at the next-gen is available Ford Ranger. Whichcar gave Motor1.com Permission to reproduce the images.
These photos show the truck as it is. The Motor1.com’s team has been examining the photos closely and isn’t sure if they are a real vehicle. The pickup’s parts look too shiny and the windows that are blacked out look strange. It is also strange that the logos are hidden. The images may be of a clay model that was altered with Photoshop to give it this uncanny appearance.
The front end has a clear resemblance with the current F150. The Ranger allegedly shares the bracket-shaped headlights of its brother and the chrome bars running through the middle of the grille. The rectangular fog lights are also similar in design.
At the back, there aren’t so many similarities. Similar is the way that the rear bumper curves inward towards the center. However, the taillights and tailgate are not very similar to an F-150.
Ford and Volkswagen jointly announced collaboration at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. They will be working together on future vans and the next-gen Ranger. According to the companies, the trucks are designed for African and European markets. Representatives from the companies said that they didn’t rule out the possibility of selling the trucks in North America during the announcement. However, more discussion was needed.
Ford claims that the next-gen Ranger/Amarok will not be identical badge-engineered versions. During the announcement of the partnership, Ford President of Global Markets stated that they would be “discernably distinct products” with unique driving dynamics.
