This suave sedan is exclusive to the Chinese market.
It won’t soon be a new Lincoln sedan on North American roads. It’s too bad because the Zephyr Reflection concept, which debuted at Auto Shanghai 2021 earlier this year, is a beautiful machine. However, it could soon see the light of day in China.
It appears that the Zephyr will not stray too far from the original concept in its production form. Images from sunnews.cc Patent designs for the Zephyr production line are claimed to be shown, allegedly sourced from China’s State Intellectual Property Office. This isn’t the first time that automotive design images have been published. Leaked documents from the Chinese government We can’t confirm the authenticity of these designs but there is little to doubt that they are authentic.
What do we see in Zephyr’s production version? It is very similar to the original concept. This should not be surprising as the concept has a production-ready feel. Although the headlights are slightly larger in these patent photos, the bisecting bar that runs across the grille from the lights is still visible. Due to mirror size regulations, the side mirrors are larger. The corner vents at the front fascia look like small LEDs for driving lights. The grille of the Zephyr production model features a web-like mesh that is quite different from the original concept.
Looking backward we can see that the rear fascia of the concept is slightly different in the lower regions. The chrome strips below the red corner reflectors have been removed and the reflectors now are in cutouts that are more vertically oriented. A fake diffuser was also seen on the Zephyr production model. However, it could be an aesthetic element that does not translate to a generic gray rendering.
We don’t know much about the Zephyr other than its power. We assume that the Zephyr is fully electric, despite its lack of visible exhaust and minimalist interior adorned with digital screens, but hybrid versions are possible. Although the patent images provide a basic overview of the concept, the real devil is often in the details.
These images from the Chinese government should make it easy to see a Zephyr official debut.
