Off-roading would be easier with a better suspension and locking differentials.
According to Muscle cars & Trucks, a Chevrolet Silverado ZRX off-road-oriented pickup is expected to arrive in the 2022 model year. This model would be a step up from the Colorado ZR2 pickups in the Bowtie lineup.
According to Muscle Cars & trucks, the Silverado ZRX will have a modified suspension that uses Multimatic DSSV dampers. This is similar to the Colorado ZR2 units. Rear and front electronic-locking differentials would increase off-road traction.
The engine would not be modified to make it more powerful than other Silverado trims. The top model makes 420 horsepower (313kilowatts) using a 6.2-liter V8. However, we cannot rule out any changes to the powertrain lineup prior to the ZRX. Muscle Cars & Trucks Even the possibility of the Silverado’s new 3.0-liter diesel Being available on the ZRX.
General Motors is currently pursuing a ZRX moniker to add credence to claims that Chevy is building a Silverado ZRX. A confusing twist is that Fox Racing Inc., a supplier of off-road suspension parts, filed a trademark specifically for “custom pickup trucks.” GM’s registration included “motor land vehicles” which includes automobiles, sport utility and vans, as well as engines and structural parts.
We are curious to see if Fox is working with GM on this project. Two companies have filed for ZRX trademarks for similar purposes. Fox already supplies suspension components to vehicles such as the Ford F-150 Raptor, and Toyota TRD Pro. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to add another automaker as a client.
Rumours suggest the Silverado will get an interior makeover for the model year 2021. These improvements should be made to the ZRX when it arrives in 2022.
