Say hello to the Wuling Asta crossover
A new video is from the Wheelsboy channel YouTube that introduces the Wuling Asta, the company’s new crossover for China. The brand’s silver badge is worn by the high-riding people carrier, instead of the red badge on the lower models. This signals the Asta’s higher premium aspirations. It’s certainly not expensive with a price range of RMB 69.800 to RMB 99.800 (approximately $11,800 to $15,000.400).
The Asta’s traditional design is highlighted in the video review. It has no sloped roofline which makes it appear a bit boxy. The two-tone exterior gives the Asta a modern appearance. The crossover looks like an electric vehicle, so it is worth noting the absence of visible exhaust pipes at the rear.
The powertrain isn’t anything exciting, but there are some things that can be. General Motors Under the hood, a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine from China. Wuling is actually part of a joint venture between SAIC Motors and General Motors. This explains how the combustion engine was created. The new Asta has a four-cylinder unit that produces 145 horsepower (108kilowatts) as well as 184 pound-feet (250 Newton meters of torque). It is coupled to a CVT transmission gearbox.
The official speed of the crossover is not known. However, the host of the video states that it is “very, very slow” and “this is where you can actually see the money saved to get here.” Surprisingly the interior is quite nice for such an inexpensive vehicle. You can find out more about the crossover in the entertaining video at top of the page.
