Chinese Minivans Come With An Electrically Slideable Center Console and Tea Set

This is dangerously close to Bond gadget territory.

In an effort to offer a better overall experience, minivans (or MPV’s as some Chinese firms call them) have been becoming more luxurious in the region. Contrary to popular belief these vehicles are used mainly as business shuttles. Ethan Robertson, a Roewe iMAX8 owner, takes it for a spin in Wheelsboy’s latest video.

The vehicle’s front features a bold and striking fascia with a large plastic grille. Faux brake ducts are incorporated into the front of the vehicle, leading you to believe it is more conservative than other competitors. Roewe’s iMAX8MPV starts at $27,000 (EUR22.655 at current exchange rate) MSRP. But this does not mean the final product lacks style and flair.

The interior is close to the elephant in this room. It has a modern infotainment and air filtration systems that protect occupants against microbes. The movable central console can be moved back and forth between the front and rear.

The console also has a tea set for two if that doesn’t satisfy your James Bond fantasies. Roewe also mentioned that there is a coffee set for those who don’t like tea. If you don’t want to burn your lips with hot beverages, the front compartment in the storage solution can be used as a refrigerator to store cold beverages.

Robertson also mentions the many fun gadgets inside the vehicle. He’s correct, but Roewe clearly has something in mind with larger people-carriers such as the iMAX8. The name might need some tweaking, but you get my point.
