Only the rear limited-slip differential is available on the LX F Sport in the US.
The Lexus LX 4th-Generation has a wider range than ever, with F Sport and Ultra Luxury trims for four in the United States. Toyota’s premium division isn’t ignoring the Japanese market. The full-size SUV will soon get an Offroad version. The US-spec model comes with wheels up to 22 inches. However, the JDM-spec version is limited to a set of 18-inch wheels.
The Land of the Rising Sun’s new grade has larger tires that offer better off-road capability. It also features three locking differentials. The LX North America model only has a rear Torsen limited slip differential. The LX Offroad, much like the Toyota Land Cruiser Sport adds front and centre differentials. The LX Offroad also gets some subtle styling improvements, including matte gray wheels and black wheel arch moldings. We believe that Lexus has given the gargantuan spindle-grille a dark gray metallic look, which makes it look a lot more elegant. There has been a lot of criticism about the in-your-face grille, some even comparing it to Gillette razor blades.
Although the Offroad variant seems obvious for the US market Lexus hasn’t said anything about whether it might be brought to the US. It’s currently a Japanese-only affair, in the same LX 600 version that was introduced worldwide with a twin-turbo V6. Through a 10-speed automatic transmission, it sends 409 horsepower (315 Kilowatts) to both axles and 479 pound feet (650 Newton-meters), of torque through the 10-speed automatic transmission. Russia and other countries also receive a diesel engine with the same twin-turbo, 3.3-liter V6 that was used in the latest Land Cruiser. It produces 305 horsepower (227 kW) as well as 516 lbft (700Nm) via the same 10-speed auto box. The diesel version, which is similar to the gasoline-powered model, has been upgraded from LX 570 to LX 600.
Both engines have been replaced by V8s. At the moment, Toyota has not yet announced the hybrid V6 engine that was introduced with the new Tundra. The full-size pickup truck rides on the same TNGA-F platform as the LC or LX SUVs. The i-Force Max combines a 3.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor and the same 10-speed auto for a healthy 437 hp and 583 lb-ft (790 nm) respectively. The new Lexus LX will be available in the United States starting in the first quarter next year.
