2023 BMW M2 Competition Held At The Nurburgring with Fat Exhaust Tips

BMW has plans for the standard M2 but it isn’t yet available.

BMW’s new 2 Series Coupe was unveiled in July, but we have already seen spy photos of the M2. This latest batch of Nurburgring has a little more to offer. We believe that this is not an ordinary M2, but the hotter Competition version, which will arrive at a later date. The exhaust system is visible to have four more tips than the standard M2 model. This is a dead giveaway.

We don’t have a clear image of the interior but from certain angles it looks like the prototype has carbon bucket seats. This is yet another clue that we are dealing with a spicy model. The wheels also seem to be larger (20 inches). The test vehicle seems to be riding slightly lower than the norm. Previous M2s were caught during testing In recent months. The latest-generation 2 Series Coupe models have been equipped with an automatic. This includes the M240i. But, that’s likely to change with the M2, which is widely believed to have three pedals. We are hopeful that the replacement for the Competition’s stick-shift transmission will allow drivers to drive their own cars. According to big-brother HTML4, the detuned S58 can produce as much as 490 horsepower when it is equipped with Competition trim. BMW may offer the M2 with xDrive as an option, but the M4 will be sold with a rear-wheel drive layout in order to reduce weight. A manual transmission will also be offered.

The codenamed G87, the M2 will be different from the 2 Series Coupe in that it will have rectangular air intakes and boxier front grilles with horizontal slats. This is on top of all the changes BMW makes to regular 2ers when they upgrade them to full-fat M models. The new M2 is expected to be as fun as the M4, but with nearly twice as much power and a fraction of the weight, it should be an absolute joy. The wait will be long as the production of the regular M2 will not begin until December 2022. However, logic suggests that the Competition will arrive in 2023. BMW will likely reveal the fierce coupe a few months before, so expect an official debut next summer or sooner.
