Porsche deliveries are up by 13 percent overall.
Porsche has had a year. Today, the company announced that it saw a 13 percent increase in global sales in quarter three. It also reported that 217,198 vehicles have been sold so far in 2021. The US saw the largest jump with a 30 percent increase, followed by China and Germany which experienced gains of 11 percent and nine percent respectively. Although these sales numbers are impressive, Porsche’s overall success in this year’s model year is not the most important news. You’ll see that Porsche’s highly-regarded EV, The Taycan is outselling other company’s bread-and butter vehicles.
This year, Porsche sold 28,640 Taycans, compared with 27,972 911 and 20,275 Panamera versions in the same time period. The 911 saw a 10 percent increase in sales, while the Panamera gained one percent. “The high demand for Porsche sports cars continued into the 3rd quarter, and we were delighted to be able to provide so many cars to our customers in the first 9 months of the year,” Detlev von Platen, member of Porsche’s executive board for marketing and sales, said. “The order books are well filled, which is in turn filling us with optimism as we approach the year’s end rush.
Porsche’s SUVs, crossovers and other models are still the most popular. In 2021, the company sold 62,451 Cayenne and moved 61,944 Macan units. The 718 Cayman and the niche 718 Boxster are at the bottom of this pack with 15,916 combined sales. Porsche is working on a number of BEVs over the next few years. It’s clear why, especially with the Taycan’s success in 2021, Porsche is keen to make the transition.
