The Jaguar I-Pace is more expensive than the EQC.
The Mercedes EQC, as is the norm with German cars in general, arrives fashionably late on the U.S. markets where it will be available for purchase early next year. We reviewed an electric Mercedes that was being sold under the EQ name back in May. It had an estimated starting cost of $75,000 but the EQC turns out to be more affordable than originally thought.
The 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show Mercedes has announced the 2020 EQC 400 4Matic at a starting price $67,900 MSRP. This includes the $995 delivery and destination charges. This means that the zero-emission crossover is less expensive than the $74,800 Audi E-Tron or the $69,500 E-Tron. Jaguar I-Pace . Tesla discontinued the Model X standard edition a few months back, so the current pricing for the Long Range model is $84,990.
The EQC’s two electric motors produce 402 horsepower and 561 pounds-feet of torque. This is greater than the Audi’s 355 hp or 414 lb-ft. The E-Tron has a boost mode that increases output to 402 horsepower and 490 lb-ft. This is more than the Audi 355 hp or 414 lb-ft.
All-wheel drive EQC can go from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds to a maximum speed of 112 mph electronically. The range is not yet known, but we know that the 80-kWh lithiumion battery pack requires 10 hours to charge from 10% to 100% using a wallbox (240V/32A), and 40 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using DC fast charger (110kW).
The EQC will have to compete with the BMW iX3, which is due for release next year as a fully-electric version of the X3. Audi unveiled a new version of its E-Tron at the ongoing L.A. show, with the Sportback suffix.
Last note: Mercedes revealed an Edition 1886 with cosmetic tweaks at New York Auto Show, but pricing details are not available for this limited-run model at the time of writing.
