Lotus Launches Digital Gauges That You Can Swap into Your Elise Or Exige

Lotus Launches Digital Gauges That You Can Swap into Your Elise Or Exige

There are no excuses for a lackluster lap time.

A Lotus can often be described as a driver’s car. The British automaker is known for its track-day vehicles and focuses on technology to improve the experience. The latest innovation is a plug-and-play digital dashboard that can fit specific Elise models.

Chris Haye, Aftermarket Sales Director at Lotus, says the digital instrument package is for Lotus drivers who want to enhance their track day experience. The gauges can do much more than display speed and revs. Each unit comes with GPS data from more than 4,000 racetracks worldwide. Lotus claims that the device allows drivers to track lap times and other performance indicators, even if they are not registered at a racetrack.

The digital dash includes a data logger, just like you would find in a race car. You can use the digital dash to analyze your laps or dig deeper with the help of a laptop once you’re in the pits. Weekend warriors will be able to view data and see how they can improve their driving, just like real race drivers.

The digital dash is $1,718 (PS1,470 in the U.K.). Prices in other countries may differ. Lotus makes it worthwhile, even though the price quoted does not include the cost of having it fitted to your vehicle. The dash is covered by a two year warranty if it is installed by a Lotus dealer.

While the digital dash can be helpful in improving lap times we aren’t sure if it will fit into the British automaker’s minimalist driver’s car philosophy. We’d love to hear from you in the comments about how you think we can improve your track day experience.
