Porsche 917/30 Junior For Sale Is All We Ever Wanted Growing Up

It would be wonderful to be a child again, even if it was just for a short time.

The prestigious Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance is fast approaching, and with it RM Sotheby’s Annual Monterey Auction. It’s a great opportunity to purchase something amazing if you are inspired by the incredible vehicles on California’s Monterey Peninsula.

And we do mean fantastic. A quick glance at RM Sotheby’s 2021 Monterey docket reveals vintage cars such as a 1932 Alfa Romeo 8c 35 and a plethora Ferraris such as a 1961 250 GT Cabriolet Series II and ex-Le Mans racers such a 1970 Porsche 917K in its iconic Gulf livery. There is another Porsche 917 racecar that may catch your attention, even though there are many million-dollar machines.

We present the Porsche 911/30 Junior. You might not be able to see the special features of this car, at least from the photos. This is a scaled down go-kart that was designed and built in stunning detail to resemble the Porsche racer of the 1970s. It’s accurate in color and wheels, and even though it is a miniature replica, it looks big enough to be driven by adults.

We don’t have any details on the mini racer. We’ve contacted RM Sothebys to get more information. Classic Driver states that it was built in New Zealand as a one-off. The aluminum spaceframe is similar to the racer’s, and the Kawasaki side by side donated its powertrain. The exact specs will depend on the model but it is likely that a single-cylinder engine of 400cc or less would be a candidate. Although it wouldn’t break any Nurburgring records however, we think it is fast enough to allow our inner child to have a lot of giddy fun.
