Maserati Hints At New Model Reveal Set For May 2020

Are Alfieri’s final days near?

Maserati updated its product roadmap similar to Alfa Romeo. While the former may be losing some of its planned models, the latter still has a bright future – at least in paper. An “all-new sportscar,” which will be unveiled in 2020, will be revealed. We may now know when it will make its debut. This teaser was sent by the Italian marque bearing the trident logo via e-mail, and it suggests that it will unveil a new vehicle next May in Modena. If you are wondering, MMXX stands for the Roman numeral 2020.

Maserati won’t share this information at the moment, so we don’t know what they’re trying to tease. It’s safe to assume that the model in question is the production Alfieri. This was first shown as a concept in March 2014. More than five and a quarter years ago.

According to the above product roadmap (2021), the sports car will debut first as a coupe, with a cabriolet arriving at some point in 2021. This includes the next-generation GranTurismo and a D-segment SUV. The convertible sibling, as well as the version of the former, was recently taken out-of-production .

Maserati’s latest product roadmap

The Alfieri is not much more than that. However, the company has made promises to electrify it and provide a level 3 autonomous driving platform. The electrification will include both a plug in hybrid and a pure EV version. Maserati teased a model with three electric motors and all-wheel drive in 2018.

It promised a 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h), in just two seconds, and a top speed of more than 186 mph (396 km/h). Alfieri’s high-performance coupe will use an aluminum modular spaceframe. In EV guise, it will only weigh 175 kg (386 pounds) less than its ICE counterpart.
