BMW will soon retire the 228i in order to make way for the 230i, which offers a little more power for both the coupe 2 Series and the convertible 2.
BMW has introduced the 230i, which will replace the 228i. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder engine produces 252 horsepower (185kilowatts), which is 7 more than the 228i.
The 330i has a B48 engine that generates 258 lbft (350 newton metres) of torque. The 230i is available with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed Steptronic auto. A sports version of the 230i is also available.
The manual 230i Coupe is 0.2s faster than the automatic. It can run the sprint from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.8 seconds. The 230i Convertible is available if you prefer it. It’s slightly heavier and takes 6.1 seconds to complete the sprint with the manual, and 5.9 seconds for those who pay more.
BMW opens the order books for 230i Coupe & Convertible in July. Both cars will look identical to the 228i with the exception of the “230i” badge. BMW will offer an optional black Dakota leather trim and blue contrast stitching to spice things up. This will be available for both the 230i and all other 2 Series models, as well as the 1, 3, 4 Series models.
