Jaguar XE, XF & F-Pace Gain New 296-HP, 2.0-Liter Turbo Engine

This motor joins the 200hp and 250hp versions the 2.0 turbo.

Jaguar introduces a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline motor for three of its core models – the XE and XF and FPace. The new engine is part of the Ingenium family and produces 296 horsepower (222kilowatts) with a peak torque output of 295 pound feet (400 Newton-meters). This allows for “effortless acceleration”.

“We continue expanding the Ingenium engine range, giving customers more choices than ever before,” Nick Rogers (Executive Director, product engineering) comments. The new 296-hp gasoline engine is synonymous with Jaguar and delivers enhanced fuel economy through its advanced exhaust technology, valve train design and state-of the-art exhaust technology.

The new engine in the XE sedan provides a 0-62 mile per hour acceleration of 0-100 km/h (5.5 seconds for models with an all-wheel-drive system). The new engine speeds the larger XF sedan to 62 mph (100 kph), in just 5.8 seconds. The F-Pace SUV takes 6.0 seconds. The average fuel consumption is 28 MPG highway/28 MPG highway/up to 25 MPG highway respectively for the XE and XF sedans.

British manufacturer claims that the engine, when mated with Jaguar Land-Rover’s ZF eight-speed auto transmission, delivers “exceptionally smooth acceleration with seamless shifts and outstanding responses”. Customers of the XE or XF have the option to choose from either a rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive layout.

Jaguar unveiled a new engine earlier this year. It is a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline unit with 200 hp (194 kW) and 247 hp (184 kW). The first was only available for the XE/XF models in the United States. The British made also added a 2.0-liter four-cylinder biturbo-diesel with 240 hp (179.kW) and a substantial 369 lb-ft (369 Nm) starting at 1,500 rpm in Europe. While the XE received a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 380 hp (283 kW),
