According to some, the twin-turbo Blackwing V8 4.2-liter Blackwing V8 cannot be fit into the engine bay.
The introduction of the CT5_V by Cadillac at the end May last year was bittersweet. It was bitter because the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 produced only 355 horsepower (542 Newton-meters of torque) and only 400 pound-feet (342 Nm). This is far less than the 6.2-liter V8 from the CTS-V, which produced 640 hp (854 Nm) and 630 lb-ft (854 nm). It was sweet because enthusiasts had the chance to purchase another sports sedan with the Cadillac Crest.
Cadillac announced plans to make a faster version of the CT5-V just a few days after it was revealed. The original plan was to use the twin-turbo, 4.2-liter Blackwing engine from the defunct CT6_V. However, Cadillac announced a new version of its flagship CT5 model. It will reportedly be powered by a supercharged, 6.2-liter V8. This is in contrast to the previous .
It’s not the first time that we hear the CTS-V’s engine power the CT5-V. Jonny Lieberman, Motor Trend fame, said the exact same thing back on July 2019. Although it’s not clear at this time how much power the supercharged mill can deliver for the new application, we are likely to see well over 600 horsepower considering that the engine produced 640 horsepower in the CTSV.
The car’s name is another piece missing. Cadillac has chosen to use the “V”, moniker for the warm version of its CT5. A formal reveal will take place later in the year. We’ll be able to see the HTML4-V with a twin-turbo V6 3.6-liter borrowed form the ATS-V, which produces 464 hp (603 Nm)
