The 2019 CES will feature the company’s XtraVue trailer system.
According to many, poor visibility is one of the main disadvantages of modern cars compared to older, more traditionally-designed vehicles. A few companies have already offered tech solutions to improve visibility. These include a transparent A pillar, and even a transparent Hood. This option is available on the all-new Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. A technology allows you to see through your caravan or trailer from the Paris-based automotive supplier Valeo.
The 2019 Consumer Electronics Show will see the debut of the so-called XtraVue Trailer. It uses multiple cameras to record the vehicle’s back and rear, as well as the caravan or trailer. All images are combined into one image that shows the vehicle’s surroundings on a small display on the centre console. Although the overall concept is great, we wish that the device could be integrated into factory’s infotainment system to display its information. This is likely to happen.
Valeo claims that maneuvers should be easier than ever, regardless of how big the caravan or trailer is. Drivers can change “lanes”, reverse, and park all while maintaining full control over the environment.
At this year’s CES in Las Vegas, Valeo will also be showcasing a variety of 48-volt electric systems that reduce fuel consumption. The company will also display its Drive4U Remote, Voyage XR and Drive4U systems. It will also showcase the Drive4U, an autonomous vehicle that will cruise the streets of Las Vegas equipped with only series-produced sensors.
The PictureBeam Monolithic, which Valeo has brought to CES in collaboration with CREE, is another interesting system. It is essentially a new generation of lighting systems that project information and images onto roads.
