The party is about to begin, and the X6 Vantablack looks ready to go.
The BMW X6 Vantablack will be on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show. However, the space’s strange, blue lighting combined with red and green highlights make the sleek, ultra-black crossover seem like something out of a futuristic cyberpunk future. Although we aren’t certain why it is displayed this way, it is surreal to walk into the strangely lit room.
The Vantablack VBx2 coating is applied to all body panels on this unique X6. This covering is able to absorb 99.96% of visible light, making it the darkest color in the world. The materials are not visible to the illuminate grille, taillights and headlights. They can still shine.
The X6 Vantablack color reflects very little light so it looks almost flat when you actually see it. This project was designed to hide a vehicle’s new design without using camouflage or fake body panels.
We still hope to see the Vantablack in direct sunlight. BMW’s photos only tell a part of the story. It is worth seeing. The example in Frankfurt still has a cool aesthetic, despite the fact that the unusually colored lighting doesn’t reflect off its body. The X6 appears to be a space with a cross-shaped void.
BMW does not intend to sell the new X6 model in Vantablack. However, the most recent iteration is available on in the United States starting November. At launch, buyers have the option of three powertrains: rear-drive sDrive40i or all-wheel drive xDrive40i. All-wheel-drive M50i is also available. Prices start at $65,290, including the $995 destination charge. The M50i will cost $86,465 more.
