Mercedes EQS Makes Drag Race Debut Against Taycan, Model S, E-Tron GT

However, it’s more of an honourary guest appearance.

Although the Mercedes-Benz-Benz EQS may be a technological wonder, we all know it was designed for comfort and luxury, not performance. It still has the legs to run straight.

Two electric motors power the most powerful EQS. They produce 516 horsepower (385 kilowatts) combined and 611 pound-feet (828 Nms) of torque. This allows for a 4.1 second sprint to 60 mph (97 km/h).

However, it is not as fast as other luxury EVs. The EQS was compared to its competitors in the market by UK’s Carwow, which includes the Audi E-Tron GT and Porsche Taycan. The only problem is that the EQS competitor was the entry-level EQS 450+.

The EQS has a single motor that powers the rear wheels. It only produces 329 horsepower (245 kW) or 406 lbft (550 Nm), which is the lowest power of the group. It weighs in at 5,467 lbs (2,480 kgs).

The Model S 100D is the most powerful, making almost twice the amount of the EQS, while being almost 200 kilos lighter, or about the equivalent of two people of average size. In terms of power and weight, the Taycan 4S is similar to the RS E-Tron GT.

You might think the EQS was out of luck in this race. The drag racing debut of the EQS was more an honorary appearance than anything. But which premium electric vehicles were the fastest?
