2022 Jeep Compass Announces Subtle Exterior Changes In China

You will find more important changes inside.

The Jeep Compass is part of the automaker’s venture into crossovers thirteen years ago. The Compass was not awarded the brand’s “Trail Rated” badge for its first three years. However, the second-generation model helped to prove its off-road capabilities. Compass sales have exploded more than doubled between 2017-2018. Jeep hopes to maintain that success with a new model, which will debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

Although there aren’t many images of the updated crossover available, they do show a subtle redesign to the exterior. The front is identical to what we saw in spy photos and teasers, but with a slightly modified face. Designers created a thinner grille that is smaller than the seven-slotted design to bridge the fog lights. The new headlights have a narrower, more modern shape. We can see the modified taillight design on the Chinese splash page.

Jeep has completely redesigned the interior, making it more attractive. The dash is now completely redesigned with the 10.1 inch infotainment system added to the top. It is positioned above the HVAC vents which are thinner than the ones found in the current crossover. Below it are the HVAC controls. A 10.25-inch digital cluster will provide drivers with important information. The new design of the center console and steering wheel are just some of the other changes.

The updated Compass will feature a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine paired with a Chinese nine-speed automatic transmission. This is significantly less than the 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated mill in the US Compass, which produces 180 horsepower (134 Kilowatts) as well as 175 pound-feet (237 Newton meters) of torque. Although we doubt that Jeep will swap out the engine in the US for the 2.4-liter model, we’ll know for sure when Jeep unveils the American-market version. The 2022 model will be revealed in full by Jeep early next year.
