Porsche will soon unveil the Boxster, a range-topping model.
Porsche was not shy about showing off its new 718Boxster Spyder to the public during the testing phase. However, it has been a few months since we last saw the stylish droptop out and about. We see the same black tape that covers LED lights, and minor changes to the front fascia in this photo as in previous photos. The Porsche crest is visible on the hood, which the automaker frequently hides, despite its name being prominently displayed on the back.
The rear still has some tape, but not as much as the ones we have seen before. The red top has been removed this time, but amusingly, the driver is still wearing a bright red cap. Is this a code? Or a coincidence? You’re correct – it’s a funny coincidence.
These photos give us a nice look at the Spyder’s flying buttresses. This is undoubtedly the most notable feature of the 718 Boxster. We’ve seen this car ride a little lower than the 718 GTS in spy shots before. This seems to be true here. This could mean that the production version will get additional suspension tuning. We are certain that the powerplant will be the 911 GT3 version. The mill should produce around 400 horsepower (298kilowatts), which is less than the 911, but still quite a bit more than the GTS’s 365 hp (272kW).
Although we have not heard from our insiders, it is clear that the Spyder will be released soon due to the limited coverage and lengthy testing. As we enter the auto show season, keep checking back for an official unveiling.
