Only 99 units will ever be produced of the extravagant G-Wagen.
The G Class W463 is a combination of the G65’s V12 motor with the portal axles and G500 4×42, all in one package. It is the most expensive safari vehicle, costing around EUR500,000 (around $527,400), according Autocar. Mercedes-Maybach will happily throw in the fully reclined individual rear seats of the S-Class and extend the wheelbase by nearly 58 centimeters (23inches) to give you more legroom.
You can spend half a million euro on the MercedesG, which includes a large rear console that houses heated and cooled cup holders. These are located between the two comfortable rear seats. The controls behind the cup holders allow you to open and close the glass partition. This allows you extra privacy if you don’t want your chauffeur to hear what you are talking about with the person sitting on the luxurious seat. You can also choose from folding tables with leather-wrapped tops or the two 10-inch screens that are part of the rear-seat entertainment.
Droptop off-roaders are powered by the biturbo V12 6.8-liter engine. It produces 630 horsepower (460 kilowatts) as well as 737 pound-feet (1,063 Newton-meters) of torque. This is thanks to the massive 22-inch alloys that are housed in the carbon fiber wheel arches. The G650 has nearly a meter of ground clearance and can tackle even the most challenging terrains. It doesn’t matter much that the G650 is a special vehicle. However, top speed is electronically limited at 112 mph (180 km/h) when the roof is down. The limiter will kick in quicker if the roof is removed. It can be lowered to 60 mph (96 km/h).
The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet will be delivered by the end of this fall. All 99 cars that Magna Steyr has planned to produce in Graz, Austria, will have a left-hand-drive layout. The -bodied G-Wagen is not coming to America.
The next-generation G was spied several times and is expected arrive sometime in 2018.
