Three pickup trucks are part of GM’s EV strategy. The GMC Hummer EV will begin its deliveries in the middle of this month. Meanwhile, the Chevy Silverado EV will debit at January’s CES. Today’s first glimpse at the third is the electric GMC Sierra Denali. We also learned that the electric Sierra will only be available in the Denali trim.
GMC released a teaser image and a short teaser video. It draws many comparisons to the GMC Hummer-electric-debut-details%22%7D. The entire front of the Sierra is shown in the video, which includes the L-shaped headlights and illuminated grille. There are no other details, much like , the first teaser. A similar exterior charging indicator is also shown in the video to the Hummer.
GMC’s new electric pickup is not yet known. However, the brand claims it will be built on GM’s Ultium platform just like the Hummer EV. Both models will likely share many components with the Sierra Denali getting unique styling. The Silverado EV will reveal more information about the Sierra Denali. Mary Barra, GM CEO, stated recently that the Silverado EV will be the best on market. She also made a dig at Ford F-150 Lighting as well as its underpinnings.
The details of the powertrain are still unknown at this time. GM will invest up in its Ultium battery technology to make the platform more efficient. Silverado will have a range of up to 400 miles (644 km), which is significantly more than the 350-mile range in the Hummer EV. We will need to wait to see official details about the Sierra’s range. GMC will unveil the electric Sierra Denali sometime next spring.
