Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin Collab on Racy Laureato Chronograph

One of 188 rare examples of this cool chronograph is available for $18,100

Watch nerds among the Motor1-verse may recall that Aston Martin collaborated last summer with luxury Swiss watchmaker Girard Perregaux to create a breathtaking tourbillon. The succinctly titled Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition had a case that was open on both sides, excellent craftsmanship, detailing, and the kind of price you would expect from a supercar maker and fancy Swiss company. Today, GP and Aston announced yet more benefits of their successful partnership. This time, it was a green-dialed, affordable chronograph. The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition is limited to 188 units and goes on sale immediately. It should be a great companion for any Aston Martin owner’s next Sunday drive.

Girard-Perregaux’s Laureato collection of sport watches was launched in 1975. This Aston Chronograph is a tribute to the venerable brand. While the integrated bracelet and signature octagonal dial are prominent features, the main feature of this watch is the extravagant dial. Laureato watches are known for their richly colored and textured dials. The Aston Martin Green paint (a sparkly reference to British Racing Green), is applied in 21 stages. It creates 7 layers and a striking crosshatched pattern. This is intended to recall Aston’s original logo and the diamond-stitched leather seats in many of its modern sports cars. Aston uses a seven-layer process to paint its cars, which is a neat, geeky detail. A second subtle nod to Aston heritage is the shape of the counterweight on the central chronograph seconds hand. The oval-shaped bisected shape resembles the sidestrakes on the DB4 or DB5. The logo and name of Aston Martin, as well as the logo, have been engraved on the sapphire display back window. This is a unique addition to the Laureato. This is a standard GP Laureato Chronograph in almost every other aspect. The 42mm case and the integrated bracelet are made from 904L steel. This steel is extremely durable and resistant to corrosion. The watch’s automatic, high-beat, high-beat, GP03300-0141 movement is the GP’s own. It has a chronograph, small seconds and date complications. As you would expect for this price, the 63-jewel movement has a 43 hour power reserve and is chronometer-certified. All authorized Girard Perregaux retailers can sell the Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition. The watches won’t be sold directly to Aston Martin dealers. However, we were told that both brands have great communication lines, so your Aston guy might be your new watch guy.
