A UK-based company will only build three examples.
In a limited edition, one of the most iconic performance cars and motorsport legends will be back in production. CNC Motorsport AWS, British company, will resurrect the Ford Sierra RS500 in collaboration with Andy Rouse, Touring Car driver and builder. Yay!
Only three copies will be made using original Sierra bodyshells. A brand new race car shell will be used to make the first example, which is expected to be finished by early next year. It has been sitting unutilized since the 1980s. All three cars will be issued the necessary documents to participate in historic motorsport events. Machines will be built to Andy Rouse Engineering specifications as Group A racecars using original drawings.
Furthermore, each unit will be powered with a Sierra RS500 engine built from Vic Drake’s original input. Vic Drake has previously produced over 100 RS500 engines. The 575-horsepower (423 kilowatts) motor will be mated with a five-speed Getrag manual transmission and a viscous differential. The correct gauges will be featured on all three continuation cars. They will also come in plain white, with an option of painted liveries. Andy Rouse will design nearly every component of the resurrected Sierra RS500. The front suspension uprights, rear arm, fuel tank enclosure and heated windscreen are all included. Rouse will also provide the steel roll cage.
Andy Rouse states that the RS500 was a lot of fun. Of all the cars I raced in racing, the Kaliber RS500 was my favorite. We came up with the idea of building correct continuation cars, just like we did in our Binley workshop, when Alan informed me that he had purchased a new bodyshell. Alan was an engineer who I trusted with building cars that could carry the ARE plate. Price of each car will be PS185,000 (254,330 at current exchange rates), before any package or livery options.
