In just 4 seconds, it will reach 60 mph.
Mercedes-AMG will launch high-performance versions the upcoming EV models under the EQ sub-brand. Similar to the results of other Mercedes products, this result will be identical. While the basic vehicle will remain, engineers will be focusing their efforts on improving straight-line performance and handling as well as braking. This year will see the debut of the first AMG-tuned EQ vehicle.
AMG indicated that there are two EVs in the near future. They are the ambassadors of a new era for the performance segment. 43 And 53 “Series AMG models,” says the company in its announcement.
Both AMG EVs have an electric motor at both the front and rear. To handle the additional performance of the powertrain, the 400-volt lithiumion battery will be wired separately. AMG i-Booster technology will offer electric recuperation as well as hydraulic braking to slow down.
According to division tests, the powertrain will deliver the same performance as the current 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine. It will propel the electric products to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 4.0 seconds. The maximum speed is 155 mph (249 km/h).
AMG models have to look good, and this is true for the EV models. The new grille will have vertical slats and look similar to the Panamericana nose on top-spec AMG models. Other changes will be made to the bumper, sills and aerodynamic elements.
There will be sportsy touches inside, such as thickly padded seats and different trims than other models. Specific functions will be added to the MBUX system to enable performance driving. AMG will adjust the shaker, loudspeakers and generator to produce a more aggressive sound than the standard EQ models.
