Hong Kong Police Intercept 45 Supercars for Street Racing

This is what you need to see.

The United States is no stranger to us. This is a sad reality for those who want to live the Fast & Furious dream in the real world. Hong Kong is the most affected by this dangerous past, with 45 vehicles being intercepted recently on multiple reports of street racing and illegal modification.

The local authorities decided to park the vehicles on a busy street instead of moving them to an impound yard. Although we don’t know if it was a flex to send out a message, or simply a lack of a suitable-sized parking lot, images of the fleet have been exploded on the internet.

This is a spectacular sight, but it’s also important to note the reason behind it. Many residents who live near the expressway complained about the loudness of these sporty and luxurious vehicles. This is not something that you might dismiss as being a matter of petty tenants who cannot afford supercars.

The South China Morning Post reported in January 2020 that street racing-related calls rose by 40% in the first 11 month of 2020. This equates to a total number of 139 calls. In the same period, officers also issued 222,905 fixed penalty tickets and summonses for speeding offenses.

Street racing, despite differing opinions, is an important issue that has been dealt with in many different ways all over the globe. Here in the states, we have a range of programs promoting uber-cheap run-what-you’ve-brung events at the drag strip. It doesn’t take away from the sight of more than 40 cars pulled over on a public road.
