Manual Gearbox Foils Could-Be Lamborghini Diablo Thief in SNL Sketch The world’s most witty and funny heist movie stars Kenan Thompson, Kieran Curkin, Chris Redd. It will not surprise anyone to find that the percentage of drivers who can use a manual transmission has dropped in recent years. It is even the subject matter of the fabled “millennial Anti-Theft Device” meme. Saturday Night Live is making a profit from that trope with its latest sketch. Starring Chris Redd, Kenan Thomson, and Kieran Culkin, it features electric-cars-outsell-manual-transmissions%22%7D. It’s a classic heist movie: Kenan Thompson plays the poor security guard hired by a wealthy Hollywood Hills man to protect a fleet of expensive cars. He is knocked unconscious within minutes by Chris Redd (The Thief), along with Mikey Day and KieranCulkin (The Mastermind). They are trying to steal an early Lamborghini Diablo, one of the most rare cars in the collection. The Thief comes across a problem when he discovers that the car has three pedals and a lever that can move up, down and sideways. The Hacker’s security system bypass is closing in on the Hacker, and the Thief’s cocky attitude continues to frustrate his employer. His complete inability drive sticks amuses Kenan, who is tied up as security Kenan. Although the film’s visual effects are a bit lacking, there is still humor. The Thief’s best line is “Who do you think that I am Fred Flintstein?” Chris Redd is an expert at playing the confident, but inept criminal. We’d love to see him tackle a Ford Model T. It has controls so complex that even long-time owners have difficulty driving it smoothly. We’ll be watching him destroy the Diablo every time he does that skit. Disclaimer: The sketch was not made by Lamborghinis. Probably.
