It is possible that the design language and onboard tech systems will be available in a future Nissan production vehicle.
Nissan was proud to be at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show showcasing its leadership in the EV/autonomous market. The automaker also unveiled the Ariya Concept, a sleek crossover design that hints at the midsize Nissan EV crossover we can expect in the near future. This is also a sign of Nissan’s future design direction, and technological advancements, especially in regards to Nissan Intelligent Mobility. It covers everything, from connectivity to autonomous system, and more.
This concept is an extension of the Nissan IMx concept, which was shown at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The front features include a wide front bumper and slim LED lights. They are joined by the Nissan V-Motion grille, and an illuminated Nissan emblem. The wide fenders are filled 21-inch wheels. A single wraparound taillight is located at the rear. Although the look is conceptual, it is possible to see it in production.
It is described as elegant and clean, with all controls integrated into touchscreens. It’s also loaded with technology, including Nissan’s ProPilot2.0 autonomous system that allows for hands-off driving. The interior of the Ariya is electric and features a flat floor that allows five adults to travel.
The Ariya uses two electric motors, one for each axle. Nissan claims that this gives the Ariya high-performance excitement and multiple driving modes to adapt to a variety of driving conditions and driving environments.
“Nissan has a clear vision for global mobility. “The Ariya Concept is only the beginning as Nissan examines how design and packaging can be improved through the architectures of new EV platforms,” Yasuhiro Yamauchi said, Nissan representative executive officer. “The Ariya Concept does not represent a concept car, but rather an embodiment of Nissan Intelligent Mobility at its core. It highlights the promise of a completely new driving experience.
