We know that the N full-fat model is coming, but there’s no word on it.
You can say what you like about the Kona, but Hyundai deserves credit for coming up with such a bold design. The crossover will soon get a facelift to avoid a midlife crisis. Today, the South Korean brand gives us a glimpse at the 2021 model year for the quirky CUV.
Full-LED split headlights look sharper in the upper and lower clusters. Even the regular Kona front bumper looks sportier. The N Line has a mesh grille, beefier intakes and three “nostrils” that look like the little ones Audi uses on its A1 Sportback. We hope they are functional and not for show but it could be a disappointment with the current trend of fake design elements.
The Hyundai badge is another difference between the N Line and the regular. The badge is located on the bumper at the top, flanked with the headlights on the standard Kona, while the spicy version places it on the grille. It appears that the normal model will omit the thin horizontal slot from the pre-facelift model, which is located between the grille hood.
Hyundai has not revealed much about the redesign, except to say that the front skid plate was redesigned, giving the crossover an “armored” appearance. The press release also mentions the Kona N, which will likely be revealed along with the lower trims and performance derivatives at a later time.
The Kona N will have 275 horsepower thanks to a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline motor and an eight-speed dual-clutch auto transmission. The teased warm N Line, which is a 201-hp engine 1.6-liter motor, will be the same as the Elantra N Line.
