Next week, Infiniti will reveal the concept at Pebble Beach.
Infiniti will unveil an electric concept car next week. The teasers continue. The Japanese luxury automaker teased last week the Prototype 10 concept, showing a top-down view of the car’s interior. Infiniti today gives us a sketch of its vehicle for you to admire until August 23 when the covers will officially go on.
If the sketch is accurate, the real-world design will be stunning. The hood has a long front fascia and a wide hood. A tiny windscreen can be seen in front of the cabin, which is single-seat and off-set. The sides of the cabin are deeply sculpted and create a small arch above the rear wheels. It looks like the prototype 9 concept, but reimagined in the not-so distant future. This design is an evolution from the styling that was shown earlier this year on the Infiniti Q inspiration.
Karim Habib (Executive Design Director at Infiniti), says that the Infiniti Prototype 10 is inspired by the design and layout of some of the most striking car designs ever made. Infiniti Prototype 10 was built to evoke the power of single-seat, high-powered competition cars. “Our new concept speaks to an electrified future. This is evident in its form and details. We were inspired by an optimistic past era when cars were driven for the love of driving.
Unfortunately, the Prototype 10 is not going to be made into production. Infiniti is trying to catch up in the EV market and while it will offer its first electric vehicle in 2021 it won’t be an extravagant single-seater. It will instead be a sedan built on the Q Inspiration Concept. Infiniti will adapt the car to Chinese tastes. Marketing the vehicle to a wider audience would be easier with the sedan platform. After they have established several EV models, Infiniti will be able to think about speciality EVs.
Infiniti will present the Prototype 10 during the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, August 23.
