New Ssangyong Korando Spy Photos Keep Its Design A Mystery

It tows.

The 2019 Ssangyong Korando was last seen back in June. There are a variety of crossovers available, with the Korando in dire need of a refresh. We have spy photos of the vehicle but no details. The Korando is currently testing its towing capability. A gaggle of measuring tools are attached to the wheels. We don’t know where Ssangyong stands in Korando’s evolution.

Although the design of the 2019 Korando is still unknown, there are a few examples of previous concepts that give an idea of how it could look. The 2019 Korando appears to be a mix of the eSIV EV Concept and the XAVL Concept, both which were unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier in the year. The styling of the new Korando is very different from that of the previous model.

Although the design of the new Korando might borrow a few elements from the eSIV EV Concept Concept, it gives us a glimpse at a future powertrain – electric. The Korando EV will follow the new Korando. Until the EV model arrives, customers will still have two options: a 1.5-liter petrol engine or a 1.6 liter diesel engine. Both are new powertrains.

The e-SIV EV Concept powertrain could be used to power the EV powertrain. It was powered by a 188-horsepower electric motor (140-kilowatt), and a 61.5-kWh battery. The electric motor was capable of driving 200-280 miles (320-450 km) on one charge, which is comparable to other models in this segment.

The Ssangyongs lineup will soon see the Korando as the first of many updates. Soon, the Korando and Korando EV are expected to debut – perhaps as early as next year. In 2020, a major facelift will be done to the Tivoli crossover. The Rexton update will follow in 2022.
