The full-size luxury SUV for seven passengers features a host of new standard equipment, including Crosswind Stabilization, Attention Assist and Collision Prevention Assist.
Other highlights include Multi-color Ambient Lighting and Parktronic with Active Park Assist, Active Curve System, Surround View Camera and Driver Assistance Package.
The 2013 GL-Class comes in three versions: the GL350 BlueTEC, with 240hp and 455 lb-ft, (previously 210 hp. 400 lb-ft), and the GL450, with 362hp.
Performance-wise, the GL350 GL450, GL550 and GL550 can run 0-60mph in 8.3, 6.2, and 5.5 seconds respectively.
Mercedes-Benz USA doesn’t yet have specific fuel efficiency figures. However, the GL 350 BlueTEC4MATIC in Germany is listed at 7.4-8.0 liters/100km with CO2 192-209 g/km. The GL 500 4MATIC blueEFFICIENCY is listed at 11.3-11.6 liters/100km with CO2 at 262-269 g/km. The combined figures in the UK are 38 mpg, 25 mpg, which is a 20% and 18% improvement on its predecessor.
The 2013 GL-Class will be available in the U.S. starting in September 2012, and in the UK beginning in 2013.
