We don’t have much to say at the moment, but we do know that it is in development.
Maserati is aware SUVs have become the hottest thing in the market. That’s why updated their roadmap to include a earlier launch of its second crossover. It will arrive in 2021 at least one year sooner than originally planned. It is likely that we will not see the final product for six to nine months, but today we are able to share the first spy photos.
You will be disappointed, Maserati still uses Alfa Romeo Stelvio mules to test its new SUV. These photos, which Walter Vayr first posted on Facebook, show that the model is being tested with a Stelvio body. It may look like a Stelvio body, but there are signs that it is not.
The camouflage covering the car’s front is a key feature of this Alfa prototype. It was already revealed by the Italian manufacturer that a facelifted version had been made of the SUV.

We believe that this is an automaker’s test base because there are several Maserati prototypes right next to the crossover. The chassis of the trial car is slightly wider than the Stelvio, suggesting that it could be modified Alfa Romeo’s Giorgio platform.
The first preproduction models will be on the assembly lines in the latter part of this year. This means that we are still a few months away seeing the prototypes with the actual production body and other bits.
The yet unnamed model will be below the Levante, according to what we know. It will likely be slightly larger than Alfa’s Tonale crossover, and it will have more powerful engines.
