A new Subaru driver attention monitoring system is available, as well as a more powerful 2.5-liter Boxer Engine.
The 2019 Subaru Forester has more cargo space and better fuel economy than previous models. The Forester will debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show, and will be available for purchase later in the year.
As you can see, Subaru didn’t take too many risks with styling. The new Forester looks almost exactly the same as the old one. However, it has new shapes and lines and lighting designs. Each trim level gets new 17- and 18-inch wheels. It switches to the Subaru Global Platform (SGP), which is also used in other Subarus. It grows as a result. The 2019 Forester’s wheelbase is 1.2 inches longer, which allows for an increase in rear legroom of 1.4 inches. Subaru claims that all measurements of passengers increase, including leg, head, and shoulder space. The cargo space has also been increased to 76.1 cubic yards with the seats down, an increase of 1.9 cubic inches.
Engineers took extra care to ensure cargo was easy to get in and out by increasing the cargo door’s width by 5.3 inches as well as making the cargo floor more flat than before. The rear doors are now wider and the angle of the C-pillar is steeper to facilitate ingress (or loading car seats).Check out all the latest news from the New York Auto Show Ground clearance is 8.7 inches. All-wheel drive remains standard.
Subaru claims that engineers worked to reduce noise and vibration in the Forester’s cabin. They also noted that road noise has been decreased. This is a welcome improvement considering that the Forester’s predecessor was louder than other models.
The Forester’s base engine is now a 2.5-liter flat four with 182 horsepower, 176 pound-feet, and gains of 12 hp, and 2 lb/ft. Fuel economy will also improve to 33 MPG highway thanks to active grille shutters. This is in comparison to the 32-mpg rating of the Forester. Standard equipment includes a continuously variable transmission. A manual transmission is not mentioned. An optional turbo engine, as was available on the Forester XT, is also not mentioned.
Subaru installed an electric parking brake in the cabin to make it more space-efficient. They also designed more comfortable front seats and new seatback pockets that have dividers. Subaru claims these pockets are great for tablet or phone storage. The new features are a Wi-Fi hotspot, heated rear seats, and heated front seats.
You can also get additional standard safety equipment. The EyeSight active safety suite is standard equipment on every 2019 Forester. It includes adaptive cruise control and pre-collision brakes, as well as lane-keep assistance. As an option, blind-spot warning or reverse braking can be selected. DriverFocus is a new feature for the Forester. It mimics other manufacturer’s driver-attention systems. Subaru claims that it uses facial recognition to identify signs of driver fatigue and driver distraction.
The 2019 Forester’s touchscreen infotainment system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trim levels have an 8.0-inch screen with navigation, which is optional.
Although pricing will not be revealed until later, Subaru announced that the 2019 Forester would be available in base, premium, sport, limited, and touring trims. The Sport gets a special look with a gloss black grille, 18-inch wheels, an orange roof spoiler and orange accents on roof rails. It also has a dark gray interior with orange stitching. Subaru claims this model is designed to appeal to outdoor enthusiasts. It also features a manual-shifting CVT with paddle shifters and LED lighting in the cargo area, which allows you to load your outdoor gear late at night or early morning.
The 2019 Subaru Forester will continue to appeal to crossover buyers by offering more of what they desire: fuel economy and roominess.
