Because 577 horsepower wasn’t enough, it was upgraded to 700 horsepower.
While we wait patiently for Mercedes-AMG’s S to be introduced, tuners are already looking for ways to enhance the performance SUV. Urban Automotive, a UK aftermarket company, took a right-hand-drive G-Wagen and gave it an extensive carbon fiber treatment.
They went to the town to customise theG63 Everything from the bumpers to rear spoiler made of carbon fiber. The lightweight material is used for the sills and the wheel arches, which increase the vehicle’s width by 50mm (nearly two inches) over the standard model. Carbon fiber packages are rounded off with the spare wheel cover, and the lower diffuser giving the G63 an aggressive appearance
The Mercedes SUV has received a set of new 23-inch wheels with matching tires and a custom suspension. You can adjust the sound of the twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 to your preference thanks to the new exhaust system that has switchable valves.
The engine is the heart of any tuning kit. It would not be complete without the extra power from under the hood. Urban Automotive increased the output of the eight-cylinder engine to 700 horsepower, or 123 more than the G63. The stock version of the engine isn’t exactly fast. Real-world testing shows it can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in just four seconds, which is 0.5s more than the official specifications sheet.
The future is bright for those who want a more powerful and faster version of the G-Class directly from Mercedes-AMG. There might be a G73 variant in the future, beyond the G63 S. The model’s name was registered almost a year ago. It might also have some similarities to the 805 horsepower electrified motor that the AMG GT Concept had.
