It’s been fifteen years since the first Toyota Tundra was presented at the Chicago Auto Show in 2006. This year, the model year 2007 was celebrated. It’s been a long wait, almost as long we’ve been waiting to see the next-generation Land Cruiser.
The full-size Toyota pickup truck will also be getting a complete overhaul, just as the SUV is in the works. One of the viewers of The Fast Lane Truck posted a video showing what appears to be a prototype 2022 Tundra towing a large trailer in West Virginia.
It’s not the first time that we have seen a Tundra prototype pulling a huge trailer. In October last year, we saw another Tundra prototype pulling a trailer. However, this time the Tundra appears to be towing something much larger.
Design-wise, not much to report. Previous leakage The truck’s fascia was revealed in November 2020. It includes a Y-shaped LED DRL, horizontal fog lights at the bottom and a large black grille. The embedded post below also shows a video of Tundra’s teaser, which gives us a sense of the truck’s new styling.
A long-time Motor1 reader has provided us with limited information about Toyota’s future plans . The next Tundra, which will be the 2022 model year’s first, will arrive in December 2021, according to a reader. It will be built on a TNGA F platform and powered with a twin-turbo V6 engine. We are not certain if the hybrid powertrain will be available at this time, but it is likely that the Land Cruiser will have one.
The truth will be known by the end of the year, but we’ll continue to keep our eyes open for further details.
