Audi A3 High-Riding in the Snow Looks Like An Allroad

Oder could it be the A3 Carver?

Allroad. Allroad is the world of Audi. It’s a name for station wagons that are a little higher than standard and have a more rugged appearance. While the A4 and are the most common carriers of allroad upgrades. However, our spy teams discovered a unusually tall A3. It was spotted on video again.

This three-minute video was captured by CarSpyMedia. It shows multiple prototypes enjoying the last days of winter in snowy Scandinavia. Camouflage levels appear the same as previous sightings. We focus on the changes to the front- and rear fascias. Camo wrap running down the sides suggest that plastic cladding, similar to an allroad, is hidden underneath. You’ll notice lines in camouflage that mirror the opening of the wheel arches if you look closely. This is exactly what you would expect from a large trim piece.

It’s difficult to tell if the fascias have undergone larger changes, or if they just added cladding where paint might be. The rear view suggests that the corner vents may contain lights. However, it could be something only prototypes have. Camouflage wrap on the front conceals the bulky corner intakes so it’s impossible to see if they have changed. Although the grille and headlights look identical, there is no mistaking that the additional ground clearance makes them stand out. The prominent roof rails are also visible on the prototypes. This adds fuel to the fire.

The Audi A1 Citycarver was a crossover-inspired car that debuted in 2019. The car was described as being equally at home on small-sized streets and rural dirt roads. It’s possible that the prototypes of the A3 will follow a similar path. The allroad designation has been used traditionally on station wagons. While the A3 Sportback is certainly wagon-esque in design, it could be argued that it is a better fit for the crossover market.

Audi does a fantastic job keeping the details secret, whatever its name. There has been no word from the rumour mill regarding the A3’s progression. We will continue to look until we find out more or the camouflage is revealed. We expect this to happen at the very minimum sometime in 2012.
